Who: The Atomic Bomb was created by members of a secret government group know as the Manhattan Project. The group was so secret because they were developing a new bomb. The project leader was General Groves who helped explain the project to President Truman after President Roosevelt's death who was informed about it from Secetary of War Stimson.

What: The Atomic Bomb was used on Japan not only to win the war but to show the Soviet Union the power that an atomic bomb can bring. It also produced a controversy of whether using atomic bombs on one another is moral and that using them can bring political, economic, and diplomatic reprecutions. People started to question the intentions of President Truman, the people questioned whether he dropped the bombs to scare the Soviets or to end the war. The bombs were dropped by the Enola Gay on at a time for scientific purposes. The creation of the atomic bomb was a race to end WWII and to make sure that there wasn't any post war problems with the Soviet Union.

When: August 6th, 1945.

Where: The first nuclear explosion occurred on August 6th, 1945 in Hiroshima followed by a second explosion in Nagasaki, Japan.

Additional Facts: 2,232 lbs. nuclear bomb has a larger and more catastrophic explosion than a billion kilograms of the the leading high explosion. The Atomic Bomb is easily considered a weapon of mass destruction.
